Does GCU Login Use Multi-Factor Authentication?
Yes, GCU in partnership with Microsoft offers MFA as a second authentication to provide an extra layer of security to your student login.
If you have already set up the Multi-Factor Authentication and trying to log in to your student portal on a new device or using a new Wi-Fi connection then you will have to authenticate your login through a code you will receive as per your preferred authentication method.
If you are n new student and logging in first time then you will have to complete the initial setup. Please follow the below steps.
- Sign in to the GCU Portal with your GCU login credentials.
- On the next screen, if you see the “More information required” message then your account is enabled for the multi-factor authentication and you will have to complete the initial setup.
- Click the Next button.
- On the next screen, click the I want to set up a different method.
- Enter your phone number and select the Text Me a Code or Call Me option.
- Enter the verification code you receive on your phone number, and then select Verify.
- Once multi-factor authentication is set up, select Done.
GCU Student Portal Direct Login Link
You can access the student portal by directly visiting the https://gcuportal.gcu.edu/ web page and clicking the Student Access link. After that, you will have to log in to your account by using your login credentials.
GCU Student Portal Account Recovery

Halo is the online learning platform of Grand Canyon University. Students can access Halo Learn and access their courses and other study materials. To access Halo Learn, log in to your GCU student portal and click the Halo Learn link in your dashboard.
Students can also access Halo Learn directly at https://halo.gcu.edu/login. Login to Halo by entering your student portal login credentials. Multi-factor Authentication (MFA) – GCU
All faculty and students have multi-factor authentication (MFA) enabled on their Microsoft account. After entering your GCU email address and password, you’ll be asked how to authenticate using an authentication code that was sent to the authentication method you used during the initial setup process.
If you encounter a message upon logging into the GCU Portal that asks for “Additional Security Verification”, it’s likely that MFA has been enabled on your account.
How Do I Change My GCU Username?
If you have recently changed your legal name and would like your GCU username to reflect that change, you will need to start the process by changing your name on file with the university.
Request a legal name change with your Student Services Counselor. The contact information for your personal counselor is inside your GCU Portal. Your counselor will ask for documentation proving the name change has gone into effect and will update the system information.
